Why we were founded
We came together because the issues that mattered most to those in our communities weren’t being solved.
We asked ourselves, are paychecks stretching a little further? Can students find a job and a home in Colorado when they graduate?
How far do patients have to drive to access basic health and maternity care? Are Coloradans better off than they were 10 years ago?
We believe these are the metrics that matter, this is how we should measure success, and it is exactly why the Opportunity Caucus was formed.
Where we agree
No matter where our members land on the democratic spectrum, we agree that our focus is on making decisions guided by how they affect our constituents’ livelihoods and access to opportunities.
We agree that press releases and social media posts don't build more housing, improve schools, or increase wages.
Members of our caucus don't agree on every issue or every piece of legislation—and that's a strength, not a weakness. We share something more important–a bold progressive vision for the future.
The mission
We are on a mission to govern collaboratively and create solutions for the biggest and most difficult challenges facing our state. Representing our constituents, engaging average Coloradans, and focusing on delivering results are the key tenets of our mission. We believe it’s not just about what you stand for, but how you stand up for it.
